The star of Black Mass will go transparent for The Invisible Man, joining fellow big name Tom Cruise in Universal’s shared monster-verse.
No one would blame you for forgetting that the latest Mission Impossible sequel is coming out this year. Let’s face it, it’s not the most exciting sequel coming out in the next few months. Nothing against the Impossible Missions Force, but there’s some stiff competition in the form of Jurassic World, Star Wars and Avengers: Age of Ultron in the next few weeks.
So just to keep you thinking, Screenrant has reported on a new trailer for Mission Impossible: Rouge Nation. But maybe you’re thinking “hey, I’m not a fan of trailers, I prefer something still that I can focus on and not have to keep pausing, like a photo or something”. If that’s the case, I really don’t get you much, but we got stills too all the same. Here’s the trailer for starters, fresh out of the oven:
Ok, well impossible is about right. If you were cynical you might suggest that Mission Impossible films are just padding constructed around a dumb stunt that Tom Cruise wanted to do. But I’m not that guy. Still though, trying yourself to a plane just seems silly. From the looks of things, it’s not a good time to be part of the IMF. The higher ups have disbanded the team at the very same time that an organisation called the Syndicate starts dicking around with crime and morals and stuff. So Ethan Hunt gets the band back together, including IMF vets Jeremy Render, Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg. Rebecca Ferguson will also be joining the team as Ilsa Faust, whose name suggests that she’s something of a badass.
This looks to be a solid follow on for the series, and while you might suggest that it looks like a carbon copy, it’s probably only because they’re following a formula that seems to have worked for them up until now.
Well we can at least throw the directing formula out the window since Jack Reacher director Chris McQuarrie is at the helm of this latest instalment. Will it be worth watching? I can’t say, but at the very least it’ll definitely be worth a few sweet action scenes.
