A reboot of the classic Mel Gibson franchise Mad Max? What could go wrong? Well, a lot went wrong, which is why the property has been in limbo for so long. But now we’ve got a trailer, so we get a chance to see whether all that time and effort has paid off with Mad Max: Fury Road. Not only do we get a look at Tom Hardy being powerfully mute, but there’s also a few decent shots of Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult, both looking just manic enough to suit the post-apocalyptic…road. So here’s the trailer, fresh from Warner Bros.:
The award for Most Horrific Makeoever definitely goes to Hoult, who looks more like Gollum or Pan’s Labyrinth‘s Pale Man than a dystopian road-rager. Out of all the sci-fi reboots of past and future, Fury Road looks like it could be a very strong re-imagining, and could very well have, dare I say, a point to it. Could this be thanks to original Mad Max director George Miller working on the script and behind the scenes.
The film also stars Zoe Kravitz and Riley Keough, and is scheduled for a release on May 15th, 2015.
