Storks Full Length Trailer: ‘Power Move’

Andy Samberg and Kelsey Grammar star in Warner Bros. latest animated offering Storks. Read more after the jump.

Andy Samberg has had an insane 12 months. Not only has he hosted The Emmys and finished up another hit season of his Fox series Brooklyn 99, he’s also got two movies coming out over the summer. Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping has gotten some pretty solid reviews for a broad comedy. So far it looks like Popstar could be a tent-pole the year comedy-wise, but that’s not enough for Samberg. He’s also starring in Warner Bros.’ animated feature Storks. We’ve only seen a mini-trailer of Storks, which is continuing the tradition of animated movies with single nouns for titles. Now we’ve got a full length trailer of Storks to get our teeth into courtesy of Slashfilm.

The plot sounds broad enough. Storks have moved past delivering babies and are now in the package delivery service (topical). So when Samberg has to get a baby to it’s parents with the help of an orphan girl (Katie Crown), it’s a race against time and being found out.

Trailer Verdict

The trailer itself is varied, and a bit of a mess. It’s 2:30 minutes and they try to cram as many different scenes in as possible. What they forgot to do was thread the quotes and goofy gags together with any common sense. What you end up with is a bit of joke fatigue by the end and a sense that whoever put the trailer together was desperate to showcase as many hooks as possible. It’s hard to imagine how they would have lost out jut sticking to depicting the main story, especially considering how jumbled the final project was. Hopefully the film itself won’t suffer from the same too-eager-to-please joke assault.

Storks has a decent enough cast attached . Along wth Samberg and Crown we’ve got Kelsey Grammar as Samberg’s boss, Key and Peele as wolves and Jennifer Aniston and Ty Burrell as the parents. Unfortunately a good cast isn’t enough to secure an animated movie’s quality. The Angry Birds Movie was choc full of comedy stars. But that didn’t stop it being slated by critics. Will Storks fair better? Or will it have to rely on Samberg’s live action summer success?

Storks is set for release September 23rd 2016. Watch this space for all the latest Storks movie news.
