High-Rise trailer: Hiddleston Ascends into Madness

Tom Hiddleston’s sanity and British politeness are pushed to the limit in the JG Ballard novel adaptation. Watch the High-Rise trailer below.

We still have a whole to wait before we see Tom Hiddleston don his stenston for the Hank Williams biopic I Saw the Light. Fortunately we have another Hiddleston project to keep us busy this summer. No, not Captain America: Civil War. It’s Ben Wheatley’s High-Rise, and we just so happens to have a High-Rise trailer, courtesy of Collider.com.

We’ve known about the adaptation of JG Ballard‘s acclaimed Sci-fi novel for some time now, but this is our first look at some proper footage. Hiddleston plays reclusive doctor Robert Laing, who’s sought out anonymity in an impossibly enormous High-rise. All his needs are met by the services and facilities within the building, but all is not well as the classes start to clash.

Luke Evans also appears in the High-Rise trailer as a lower-level apartment owner who’s had enough of the richer upper floor crowd living the high life (contains no trace of puns). Also starring is The League of Gentlemen‘s Reece Shearsmith as a tenant who seems all to aware of the emotional turmoil masked by the lavishness of the building. Not to mention Jeremy Irons as the eccentric architect who built the High-rise and knows all its ins and outs.

From the look of High-Rise trailer it seems like the film has no problem holding on to the seventies setting of the novel. Even so, there looks to be all manner of weird and wonderful fashions in the building, so it’ll be a lot of fun seeing those aesthetics hash it out. It goes without saying that this should be a top pick for British cinema this year.

High-Rise hits theatres March 17th. Watch this space for all the latest High-Rise movie news.
