Meet New Guardian of the Galaxy Pom Klementieff

Oldboy actor Pom Klementieff will head out into space in 2017 with the rest of the Guardians. But who exactly will she be playing?

James Gunn has a whole galaxy of characters to choose from in his upcoming sequel to the Marvel summer smash Guardians of the Galaxy. However, after mentioning he wanted to add two new faces to the Guardians roster, that’s since been dropped to one addition. So which character is going to join Starlord, Rocket, Groot, Gamora and Drax? We don’t know. But we now have a firm idea of the actor chosen to play them.

According to Screenrant.com, the news is that French Canadian actor Pom Klementieff will be joining the cast of Guardians Vol. 2. After doing on screen chemistry tests with the rest of the cast, Klementieff came out in top and will be the 6th member of the Galaxy-saving team unlikely heroes. Gunn had mentioned previously that he was keen to have two female team members for the second film, with Zoe Saldana‘s Gamora being the only woman on the team.

So who’s Pom Klementieff? You may not be familiar with a lot of her work, given that most of her projects have been French films. However, a few years ago she starred in Oldboy with Josh Brolin and got some decent panel exposure as a result. If you watched Oldboy, you’ll also know that Klementieff has a fair few martial arts scenes. Odds are that training will come in handy in the upcoming Marvel space-romp.

There’s nothing solid about which character Klementieff will be playing, there are suggestions that she could be playing a version of Moondragon, the daughter of Drax (Dave Bautista). The only support for this claim is that Vol. 2 will have a strong paternal theme, particularly for Chris Pratt’s character Peter Quill/Starlord.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be out May 5th 2017, so we’ve got a fair amount of time to find out more about Klementieff’s character and any other new additions to Gunn’s Galaxy.

Bond 24 title will be “Spectre” – cast announced

Finally, we can stop referring to it as Bond 24.

Director Sam Mendes officially announced from Pinewood Studios today that the new James Bond film we be called Spectre. The title has some significant ties to previous Bond lore that Mendes was not willing to comment on, being the criminal organisation that housed the infamous Ernst Stavro Blofeld; so odds are there will be considerable ties to previous bond films or novels, following in the tradition of Skyfall.

Announcement of the new title. Not bad.

The movie will start shooting next Monday for a seven month run, with locations including London, Rome, Mexico City, Morocco and the Austrian Alps. Footage will also be shot from within Pinewood Studios at some point.

Mendes made a lot more announcements while on stage with a silent Barbara Broccoli for the film that will be released just under a year from now. One such announcement was the unveiling of the car that would take pride of place in Spectre, the Aston Martin DB10. The car was designed by the studio in collaboration with Aston Martin, maintaining a long tradition of Aston Martin’s in the Bond films.

I know you wanna see what the cast looks like, so here’s the list in full as announced. First, the returning cast of MI7:

Daniel Craig as James Bond
Ralph Fiennes as M
Naomi Harris as Moneypenny
Ben Wishaw as Q
Rory Kinnear as Tanner

New additions include Sherlock‘s own Moriarty Andrew Scott as Denby.

For the villains, foes and femme fatales, we have some exciting new names:

Dave Bautista as Mr Hinx
Monica Bellucci as Lucia Skiara
Léa Seydoux as Madeleine Swan

Christoph Waltz was also announced, but his part remained unmentioned. Rumours still abound that he will take the role of the Blofeld, which now seems all but certain considering the title. Although I wouldn’t write off the possibility that it’s a red herring either.

A lot of the behind the scenes team is returning from Skyfall, including Steve Beggs for Visual Effects, Composer Thomas Newman, and Writers John Logan, Neil Pervis and Rob Wade. Mendes also announced new additions of Lee Smith as Editor and Hoyte van Hoytema, renowned Cinematographer whose work includes Spike Jonze’s Her, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and most recently Interstellar, all of which are beautiful looking movies.

Hopefully the mysteries that are yet to be revealed will become apparent over the coming months as shooting begins. It’s a spectacular cast and a title that’s full of closet-skeletons, so all in all a good bit of news.

What’s your take on the cast? Who do you think Waltz will play? Does Spectre chill you to your bones?
