Guy Ritchie Posts Pic from “King Arthur” Set

Guy Ritchie‘s been something of a hot topic recently following the knock-out trailer for his big screen adaptation of groovy spy show The Man From U.N.C.L.E. But that’s far from the only thing on the books for the Lock, Stock… and Sherlock Holmes director.

Now that U.N.C.L.E has finished up, Ritchie will return to his English homeland for Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur. With nothing but a cast list and some gritty cartoon strips I made of Merlin holding a shotgun to Arthur’s head and calling him a “facking toilet!” (that’s an excellent Cockney accent in case you’re interested), we’ve had very little to go on with this medieval movie. Fortunately, since the U.N.C.L.E trailer landed so well, Ritchie is feeling generous and has posted an image from KOTRT. Some people call it KORT. That’s not how I roll with acronyms.

Ritchie tweeted an image from the set  of KOTRT with star Charlie Hunman in full Arhturian garb. Hunman will star as King Arthur himself, so as set pics go it’s a goodie. Check it out, courtesy of Guy Ritchie‘s brain and subsequently his Twitter:

Well that doesn’t look like any of my preliminary sketches. The tweet that accompanied the picture is as understated as it is informative.

“First day on KORT”

Oh, so Ritchie calls it KORT too? Ah screw it, I like the way I write it.

There’s a distinct lack of velvet capes, crowns and golden armour, so it looks as though Ritchie isn’t straying too far from from grotty, stripped down stock and trade. And it’s a far cry from the sixties flare of UNCLE, which will arguably be Ritchie’s most colourful film to date. But all this shows is that Ritchie is faithful to the time he’s portraying in terms of costumes, which is no mean feat and rarely the easy route, especially with medieval portrayals.

Hopefully we’ll be seeing a lot lore from this project soon. Starring alongside Hunman are Astrid Bergès-Frisbey as Guinevere,  Eric Bana as Arthur’s father, Uther Pendragon, Jude Law as villain Vortigern and Djimon Hounsou is nearly confirmed as Sir Bedivere.

So what set pic do you wanna see next?
