Say what you will about Marvel movie fans, above all they are venture capitalists. As soon as they see something that works or has real potential, they’re immediately on the lookout for a way to expand it or the next big thing to connect it to. So it’s no surprise that as soon as Netflix’s hit TV show Daredevil started making waves, fans were abuzz about where the show can go next, both with Netflix and on the big screen. Well, according to Screen Rant, one thing we know for sure is that lead actor Charlie Cox (aka Matt Murdock) is all kinds of into Daredevil joining his crime fighting buds in theatres. Here’s what Cox had to say on the matter in an interview with IGN:
“Yeah that would be awesome – I’d love to do that… And usually when you’ve got a two-hour movie, it’s action-packed, and so I think that’s one of the things that the show has really benefited from – having that extra time to really get to know and sit with these characters and see them as humans. But I’d love to see ‘Daredevil’ on the big screen again. It would be great. And if I could be involved with that, I’d be thrilled.”
Given the show’s early but I’m no way premature critical success, it wouldn’t be hard to fathom a cameo or two in some of the bigger upcoming Marvel projects. On the other hand, given the number of characters being introduced in Phase 3 alone, Marvel will most likely be cautious of overpowering the stew with too many ingredients. Plus, you have to consider that the devil of Hell’s Kitchen is going to have his hands full with the Defenders once they start showing their faces. One of the most refreshing things about Daredevil is that it shows the day to day side of the Marvel universe – the side that was dumbstruck by the invasion of Avengers Assemble but still had to go to work the next day, as a citizen, a hero or a criminal. So maybe Daredevil will be staying out of the Avengers Base, at least for the time being.
Would you like to see Cox get horny on the big screen? Wait, no not that.
