With the new Vacation reboot being released this week, you’d be forgiven for getting a little nostalgic about the original Vacation. But as great as that movie was, it was just one brick in a comedy fortress that had been built by that most outrageous of comedic fraternities, the National Lampoon. Well, you picked a great time to get nostalgic, betas e there just so happens to be a documentary coming out chronicling the rise and rise and rise and fall of what was and still is a huge influence on comedy worldwide. After seeing some impressive concept art from The Jungle Book last week, we didn’t imagine we’d be seeing anything for a while. But just when you think all is lost, a Christmas miracle happens! Ok so it’s not quite that dramatic, but it’s still exciting. Director Jon Favreau has posted several behind the scenes shots from the adaptation of the Rudyard Kipling classic. While only one is from actual shooting, the rest are some heart-warming snaps of the cast and director, including Bill Murray who voices Baloo, Christopher Walken who voices King Louie, Scarlett Johansson who voices Kaa and Emjay Anthony who plays Mowgli. Anthony is the only actor who will be physically starring in the film and he looks pretty convincing as the boy who befriends a band of animals and makes enemies out of others. Also in the pictures is Kermit Ruffins, a jazz musician who is connected to the project
I don’t know about you, but it looks like a hell of a lot fun. There’s a lot of distinctive voices in the mix; we’ve already seen Johansson work her audio magic in Spike Jonze‘s Her. So it will be interesting to see how these familiar voices convert onto the screen. No sign of Idris Elba, Ben Kingsley or Lupita Nyong’o, but maybe they were doing some takes when everyone else was taking photos. Release is scheduled for October 9th, 2015.
Are you looking forward to a rumble in the jungle?
