Hulk’s role in Thor: Ragnarok could finally introduce the Planet Hulk storyline to the Marvel Cinematic Universe…or not.
Here at Spaghetti Red we’re not huge fans of baseless rumours. Oh sure, it’s fun to let yourself believe that they’ll do a Thundercats/ He-Man cross-over movie, or that Quentin Tarantino is taking on Shakespeare’s As You Like It. But that’s not news, and we wouldn’t waste your time with it. That being said, we’re also huge fans of The Incredible Hulk, so any rumour to do with him may be given a little more wiggle room on the site. Given that Hulk is one of the more enigmatic characters in the MCU, it happens a fair bit. So there’s this rumour going around about Planet Hulk‘s involvement in Thor: Ragnarok. It’s probably got a lot of holes, but we like it and we’re going to speculate on it at length. See what you think.
The news from Latino Review is that Thor: Raganarok will finally introduce the concept of Planet Hulk. The storyline of The not-so-jolly green giant travelling to a new planet to become a gladiatorial warrior has been hinted at before. Now the rumours are saying that we’ll finally get to see it in the latest Thor outing.
We already know that Hulk will playing a big part in Thor: Raganrok, although the deails up until now have been sketchy. We’ve heard word that it would be a buddy adventure of sorts, and given the fact that the film was deliberately made less dark this fits in nicely.
But how the heck does Planet Hulk fit into this? An excellent question. Here’s how Latino Review explain it:
In the current script for THOR: RAGNAROK, a portion of the plot will center on Thor (Chris Hemsworth) being banished from Asgard and sent to a neighboring planet where he ends up competing in gladiatorial battles. He handily beats a few intergalactic warriors, and seems a shoe-in to win…until he’s thrown for quite a loop. The overlord of the bouts decides Thor needs to be humbled and destroyed, so he calls upon their champion. And take a nice big guess who walks through those gates to meet Thor in the center of the arena?
The answer is Hulk in case that wasn’t clear.
Notions of a Planet Hulk movie have been in the air supply for some time. When Thor: The Dark World came out, hints of Planet Hulk characters included in the storyline sparked some of the first rumours. After that, once people got wind that Hulk would end Age of Ultron leaving in a quinjet the rumours started up all over again.
So here we are again, hoping that Mark Ruffalo will take Hulk into the arena so we can enjoy some Hulk-Smashing without the worry of civilian casualties.
Are these rumours baseless? It’s unlikely, but that doesn’t mean that they’re anything to go on. It’s very early in the game to start predicting what the storyline for Thor: Ragnarok will involve. Even if there is some plan to include a story, that could very easily disappear by the time the film comes out. Also, you know, we have no real sources.
Thor: Ragnarok will hit theatres 3rd November 2017.

Chappie director Blomkamp’s Alien sequel has hit the brakes to give way to Ridley Scott’s Prometheus sequel. Will he ever catch back up?
There was a period of a few months this year when we had two separate alien sequels on the horizon. The first was from District 9 director Neill Blomkamp, and the second was from the xeno-daddy himself Ridley Scott. So we felt pretty damn good about ourselves. But in this town (or whatever town you’re currently in) there’s apparently only room for one Alien sequel. So who do you imagine will be taking the back seat on the franchise? You guessed it, Ridley Scott! No just joking it’s Blomkamp.
According to Slashfilm.com the news is that Blomkamp will be putting his dream project on the back burner while Scott‘s Alien: Paradise Lost gets given priority from Fox. The news was broken as it always is by an emotionally ambiguous tweet from Blomkamp:
alien is kinda holding/ pending prometheus 2. So I shall be working on other things… as much as I love the xeno- and Lt ripley
— Иeill BlomkΛmp (@NeillBlomkamp) October 30, 2015
As well as emotionally ambiguous, it’s also factually ambiguous. There’s no mention of Scott or Paradise Lost, or why the project has been delayed. It’s a reasonable guess that Fox don’t want to put too many eggs in a shared universe basket, given their recent eager beavery with the Amazing Spiderman franchise. So the odds are they want to see how people respond to Paradise Lost before they give a release date for Blomkamp‘s project.
There’s also a bit of a popularity contest to consider. Scott just made a killing with The Martian and is once again a very hot commodity after a string of divisive projects. Blomkamp on the other hand has seen a diminishing return post-District 9 with Elysium and Chappie. It’s also worth considering that Prometheus itself split Alien fans down the middle, so there may not be a strong enough foundation to support two simultaneous additions to the franchise.
Despite Blomkamp‘s recent project issues, fans of the director and the franchise alike are eager to see what he could bring to the table. Also, with the amount of hype following Blomkamp‘s release of his own Alien artwork, fans certainly want to see the ideas come to fruition.

Oldboy actor Pom Klementieff will head out into space in 2017 with the rest of the Guardians. But who exactly will she be playing?
James Gunn has a whole galaxy of characters to choose from in his upcoming sequel to the Marvel summer smash Guardians of the Galaxy. However, after mentioning he wanted to add two new faces to the Guardians roster, that’s since been dropped to one addition. So which character is going to join Starlord, Rocket, Groot, Gamora and Drax? We don’t know. But we now have a firm idea of the actor chosen to play them.
According to Screenrant.com, the news is that French Canadian actor Pom Klementieff will be joining the cast of Guardians Vol. 2. After doing on screen chemistry tests with the rest of the cast, Klementieff came out in top and will be the 6th member of the Galaxy-saving team unlikely heroes. Gunn had mentioned previously that he was keen to have two female team members for the second film, with Zoe Saldana‘s Gamora being the only woman on the team.
So who’s Pom Klementieff? You may not be familiar with a lot of her work, given that most of her projects have been French films. However, a few years ago she starred in Oldboy with Josh Brolin and got some decent panel exposure as a result. If you watched Oldboy, you’ll also know that Klementieff has a fair few martial arts scenes. Odds are that training will come in handy in the upcoming Marvel space-romp.
There’s nothing solid about which character Klementieff will be playing, there are suggestions that she could be playing a version of Moondragon, the daughter of Drax (Dave Bautista). The only support for this claim is that Vol. 2 will have a strong paternal theme, particularly for Chris Pratt’s character Peter Quill/Starlord.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be out May 5th 2017, so we’ve got a fair amount of time to find out more about Klementieff’s character and any other new additions to Gunn’s Galaxy.
