Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo and Callie Hernandez are the latest crew members to be named in the Alien Covenant cast.

So we still know basically nothing about Alien: Covenant. The latest instalment in Ridley Scott‘s prequel Alien trilogy is due to start production next month and we’ve got diddly squat to show for it on the plot front. But that doesn’t mean we can’t still talk about it, because there is news coming out about new additions to the Alien Covenant cast.

The news from Deadline is thatĀ Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo and Callie Hernandez are boarding whatever freakish new spacecraft will be front and centre in Scott’s new epic sci-fi.

If you’re not familiar with these actors, here’s a run-down:

Jussie Smollett plays Jamal Lyon in the music-industry drama Empire. He was also in Mighty Ducks, arguably a higher profile franchise.

Amy Seimetz is also a star of the small screen, appearing in AMC’s The Killing and HBO’s Family Tree.

Next we have Carmen Ejogo, who played Coretta Scott King in the critically acclaimed Martin Luther King biopic Selma as well as playing the same role in 2001’s Boycott.

Finally, Callie Hernandez has her own big film roles with Machete Kills and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. She’ll also be appearing in Terrence Malick‘s Weightless this year.

The actors will join fellow new Alien Covenant cast membersĀ Katherine Waterston, Demian Bichir and Danny McBride. The only confirmed actor returning from Prometheus will Michael Fassbender as monotone android David, as the verdict is still out on Noomi Rapace.

Alien: Covenant is the second of what will become a prequel trilogy. With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if any of the characters in Covenant will survive long enough to make it into the third instlament. Judging ffrom the survival rate of Prometheus, the odds aren’t really in their favour. But then again the plan could be to have different characters/actors in every film, just like the original Alien trilogy. That would explain why only Fassbender’s David is continuing on, just as fellow android Bishop did in the originals.

Alien: Covenant is set for release on October 6th, 2017. Watch this space for all the latest Alien Covenant cast movie news.
